# Repaying your balance

You can repay your credit line balance at any time to reduce interest, free up your borrowing limit, and release your collateral.

## How to repay

1. Go to **Repay** from your dashboard or credit line.
2. Enter the amount you want to repay (or choose to repay in full). Repayment uses your USDC balance.
3. Confirm.

As you repay, your available credit goes back up, the collateral backing the repaid portion is released, and interest stops accruing on what you've paid off.

{% hint style="info" %}
Don't have enough balance to repay? You can repay by selling some of your collateral instead — see [Sell to repay](/credit-line-and-borrowing/sell-to-repay.md).
{% endhint %}

## Repay automatically

In **Settings**, **Auto top up with collateral** automatically sells a small amount of collateral to keep your balance healthy, without you doing it manually. See [How the credit line works](/credit-line-and-borrowing/how-it-works.md#automation-optional).

## Frequently asked

### Is there a repayment schedule?

There's no fixed schedule — you can repay on demand, in part or in full, whenever you like. Because interest accrues on an unpaid balance, repaying sooner costs less.

### Can I repay part of my balance?

Yes. Partial repayments are fine; repaying more frees up more of your limit and collateral.

### What does repayment draw from?

Your USDC balance. If you don't have enough, use [Sell to repay](/credit-line-and-borrowing/sell-to-repay.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.helioscard.xyz/credit-line-and-borrowing/repaying.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
