# USDC vs USDCx

You may see two related balances in Helios: **USDC** and **USDCx**. Both are worth one US dollar each — the difference is *where* they live.

## Why two forms?

To bring outside USDC into Helios and use it across the app, it moves onto the Canton Network as **USDCx**. This is what makes fast, low-cost transfers possible. Converting between the two happens through **bridging** — see [Adding funds](/your-wallet/adding-funds.md).

{% hint style="info" %}
You don't need to manage the conversion by hand for everyday use. The app guides you through bridging when you add or withdraw funds.
{% endhint %}

## Frequently asked

### Is USDCx worth the same as USDC?

Yes. Each is pegged to one US dollar.

### How do I spend with my card?

You don't spend a stablecoin balance directly. Spending power is added to your card by borrowing against your collateral (your credit line) — see [Funding your card](/the-helios-card/funding.md). The card then spends from its own funded balance.

### Do I pay a fee to convert?

Helios shows any applicable fee before you confirm a transfer, along with the amount you'll receive.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.helioscard.xyz/your-wallet/usdc-vs-usdcx.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
